nursery, pictures & the weekend

When I started thinking about creating a space for our baby boy many months ago I knew I wanted something unique & original. I tried to avoid themes to avoid limiting myself. I am completely satisfied with the finished product.

This is a picture of me when I was little on my Grandaddy's tractor.
Jake has one with his Papa that we're going to get framed, also.

The outfit on the left was one Jake wore as a baby.

We don't spend a whole bunch of time in the nursery yet since W is sleeping in our room currently, but I am looking forward to breaking it in soon when he moves to his own room. I think it suits him perfectly.

We had newborn pictures taken of W when he was 8 days old with Jennifer Neely. They turned out great! I'm so glad we decided to have them done because I know we'll forget just how small he was & they capture it well. Here's just a few of the best ones.

favorite.

little lion, here me roar

The JD tractor was Jake's when he was a little boy. Love this picture!

Saturday was my daddy's birthday. We had the pleasure of having him to our house to cook for his birthday dinner. He is something else, my daddy. If I could pick one man who is the epitome of a selfless man, it would be my dad. Growing up, if there were sacrifices to be made there was no question who would be making them. He provided an example of what a leader should be. He showed me what a man after God's own heart looks like. He & Mom showed me what a marriage is supposed to be. He showed me what it takes to be a hero, too. There are not words to express what my daddy means to me. I respect him to the fullest & owe all that I have to the Lord & to Daddy & Momma. I love him almost more than a heart can take.

It brings me so much joy to see my Daddy as a Grandaddy. He adores Waylon & it's so evident when he gets to spend time with him. I love these pictures of he & W. I know these will be pictures I'll treasure forever. I'm so thankful to get to watch Daddy love on Waylon, especially in light of the news that his mother has breast cancer. I know that W provides a sense of comfort & joy for him, sort of an escape from the heartache of the difficult news.

Daddy, I hope this birthday was fabulous & one you'll always remember. Thank you for letting us love on you & celebrate your special day by treating you to a good meal. I love you to the moon & back!

  1. I love everything about this post. Such a beautiful nursery and newborn photos. Waylon is a lucky little guy! Can I please have a copy of W as Simba? You know that's what I thought of! It's too precious!
