Anybody ever seen the movie Fireproof? If you haven't, put it on your to-do list & schedule a night in with your lovey dovey (or invite over some close friends if you're happily independent) & have a popcorn & movie night. Jake & I curled up on the recliner & couch, respectively, & watched it for the second time last night. I am currently reading the book The Love Dare & I wanted to watch the movie again as a refresher. Though we are still newlyweds & our love is fresh & strong for one another (& we don't have kids or debt or years of wear or all of the other million excuses people give for "falling out of love" blah blah blah), the experience has been very real & very exciting for me. I am learning about myself & letting God make & mold me. It's amazing the difference the small things make....like greetings, for example. One whole day is dedicated to how you greet your spouse, or your family, or your friends...anyone you love. It does make a difference. It sets the tone the how you will interact for the remainder of your time together. With so much negativity around me all day long (even from Christian people), I enjoy my time everyday in my book, meeting with the Lord & letting him mold me into the person, the wife, the sister, the daughter, the friend that He wants me to be. I learn new perspectives all the time & am truly learning the important things in life are not how nice your things are or how clean your house is or how popular you are. It's about loving the way God wants us to love, like the example that Jesus gave us through his life. It's about letting go of control & trusting that God will do what He says He will do. He promises us good & prosperity & blessing all throughout the Bible. If we need a job, He will provide us with work. If we need strength, He is Strength. If we need restoration, He will provide. It may not be in the form or fashion that we expect or want, but we do not know best....right? God is proving Himself right to me more & more all the time as I realize who I am alone, & then who I am in HIM. I just needed to share that & share how encouraged I am that God is always working in my life, even when it seems everything is okay. He is there & I'm learning that I need Him, even when things are okay.
If you get a chance, watch the movie....read the book. If you allow the Lord to use it as a tool, it will truly change your life! Happy, happy Friday!
